Here is my go to list for an ultra run. I have tweaked it over the years after different experiences in each race.

There are difference depending on conditions, for example a run in 30 degress full sunshine will require differences to a cold wet one but this list is a great place to start.


Packing List

  1. Running Shorts & underwear
  2. T-shirt that does not rub with a rucksack
  3. Long sleeve t-shirt if cooler conditions.
  4. Waterproof running jacket
  5. Running backpack
  6. Running Cap
  7. Suncream
  8. Sunglasses
  9. Watch
  10. HR Monitor
  11. Water bottles with 2l water minimum
  12. Electrolytes for water, more on a hot day
  13. Food such as gels and bars, between 60g and 90g carbs per hour
  14. Plastic bags for keeping items dry in your backpack
  15. Fully charged mobile with event control number saved
  16. Debit/Credt card to pay for public tracnsport is necessary and food/drinks on route if necessary
  17. Breakfast bars
  18. Body Glide
  19. Compress sport belt
  20. Battery Pack
